We're excited you're considering a career in healthcare leadership. The time is right for clever, capable health practitioners to take their career to the next level.

The Master of Healthcare Leadership will help you move from direct care, or non-health related fields (you may come from a management or leadership role in another industry and wish to move into the health sector), to manage health departments and services, lead multidisciplinary teams and inspire clinical innovation in private or public practice, and embrace the changing face of healthcare. You'll also extend existing skills in evidence-based healthcare.

Leaders in healthcare require an expert grasp of research and research methods, and the skills to turn that research into better healthcare and business solutions, gain funding and build the reputation of their programs and services.

Importantly you'll have the opportunity to network with other healthcare professionals. And when you get to it, your Graduate Studies Project, will take inspiration from your workplace or professional practice - so you'll almost immediately have research/evidence-based suggestions for improvements you can apply in your current context.

Each unit of study runs for seven weeks, with six teaching periods per year. You can study up to a maximum of 12 units. And because we're focused on your employability, we've introduced a new portfolio unit that enables you to build a professional portfolio that incorporates learning in other areas, such as your continued professional development and informal learning.

UNITS
  • Evidence Based Health Practice
  • Health Research Methodology
  • Graduate Studies Project (double weight unit)
  • Strategic Health Management
  • Principles and Practice of Clinical Accountability
  • Clinical Leaders as Innovators
  • Leadership in Health Systems
  • Healthcare Professional Portfolio
  • Teaching and Supervision in a Clinical Setting
  • Social and Emotional Intelligence in the Health Workplace
  • Leadership and Management in Health

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
Australia has one of the best healthcare systems in the world. It's the country's largest employer, and employment opportunities continue to evolve and grow. As a Master of Healthcare Leadership graduate, your new research, clinical and management skills will equip you for leadership roles within primary health care, community outreach organisations, area health services, professional associations, hospitals, private practice, and local, state and federal policy making agencies.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
To qualify for entry into the Master of Healthcare Leadership, you must have a bachelors degree (or a similar qualification) in a health-related field and be proficient in English.

If you come from a nursing background and have a diploma, we still encourage you to apply. Your many years of direct care experience and continued professional development (CDP) make you an ideal candidate for the Master of Healthcare Leadership.
