The Faculty of Health Science offers a number of undergraduate degrees and a range of postgraduate courses for students seeking careers as health professionals. The Faculty continues to offer new and innovative courses to meet the ever developing careers in health sciences. Four Schools within the Faculty of Health Science offer professionally-accredited undergraduate programs which prepare students for practice as medical scientists, doctors, nurses and pharmacists.The programs and Schools are:· Bachelor of Biomedical Science (in medical laboratory science) - School of Human Life Sciences; Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery - School of Medicine;· Bachelor of Nursing - School of Nursing and Midwifery;· Bachelor of Pharmacy - School of Pharmacy. The Bachelor of Health Science is offered by the School of Human Life Sciences and prepares students for a variety of career paths in the health sector.Separate-year Honours programs can be undertaken on successful completion of the Biomedical Science, Health Science, Exercise Science, Nursing and Midwifery and Pharmacy undergraduate degrees, with an integrated honours program also being available to Pharmacy students in their final two years of undergraduate study.The Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery is awarded with Honours based on the degree of merit shown by students throughout the new five year undergraduate course and the Bachelor of Medical Science with Honours is offered as part of the Advanced Study/Research program in semester 2 of Year 4 of the course.Graduate Certificate, Graduate Diploma and Masters coursework programs are offered by the School of Nursing and Midwifery. Graduate Certificate and Graduate Diploma courses in E-Health (Health Informatics) are offered in distance education mode by the University Department of Rural Health.A Graduate Diploma in Medical Laboratory Science, Bachelor of Exercise Science together with courses in Medical Imaging and Health Science teaching is also offered by the School of Human Life Sciences.Medical Research is a rapidly expanding area, a Bachelor of Medical Research is now offered by the School of Medicine together with a Bachelor of Biotechnology. The Graduate Diploma in Pathology is offered to those currently employed in a diagnostic pathology laboratories. The School of Pharmacy offers a Graduate Diploma of Pharmaceutical Sciences and a Master of Pharmaceutical Sciences.
