Great opportunities for health professionals in New Zealand

World renowned for its beautiful landscapes, New Zealand offers culture and lifestyle that can’t be beat.

New Zealand offers exciting opportunities for health professionals to practice in a diverse range of specialties and settings and there are very few eligibility related obstacles to Australian health professionals looking to immigrate.

New Zealand has both a private and public health system, both of which deliver high standards of care. The public health system is organised into 20 District Health Boards (DHBs) and accounts for approximately 85% of healthcare spending in New Zealand. There are over 220 hospitals in New Zealand with private hospitals networks including Mercy Ascot Hospitals and Southern Cross Hospitals.

Health professionals including Nurses, Midwives and Doctors are all in demand in New Zealand with many health professions included on the skills shortage list for overseas visa applicants. In fact, 41.5% of health professionals in New Zealand are overseas trained according to a survey by the Medical Council.
