Associate Lecturer - Clinical Education Specialist (Education Focused)

Fixed Term, full-time for 2 years with potential further extension for 2 years, starting January 2020
Base salary $74K - $101K p.a. plus superannuation

 
 
About the opportunity 
 
The Susan Wakil School of Nursing and Midwifery (Sydney Nursing School) is highly regarded nationally and internationally for academic excellence, quality teaching and innovative research. We are looking to appoint an Associate Lecturer (Education Focused) Clinical Education Specialist who is a talented educator and has a passion for, and demonstrated excellence in, pedagogical practice and design. In this Associate Lecturer position, you will contribute to the teaching and learning efforts within the School while working with the support and guidance of senior academic staff. In this position the successful incumbent’s main contribution will be teaching and will predominantly teach into clinical simulation and tutorial classes and also provide supervision in clinical settings to students during work integrated learning experiences. The position will also have the opportunity to further develop a research profile in a relevant area.
 
 
The key accountabilities and responsibilities of this role will be:
 


Undertake teaching in clinical nursing at undergraduate level
Develop expertise in contemporary pedagogical practice and design under the supervision of more senior academic staff within the school
Engage constructively with student feedback and other evaluations of teaching practice
Engage with professional learning opportunities provided at the faculty and University level including, for example, working towards Associate Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy
Provide support and clinical education to students during their work integrated learning experiences, ensuring each student has the opportunity to meet their clinical learning objectives
Provide written reports evaluating student performance during their placement, as requested by the unit of study coordinator
With appropriate mentoring, further develop a research profile in an area relevant to the school
Contribute to the broader life of the school and University through engagement with relevant activities

 
 
About you

As such, we see the importance of recruiting talent aligned to these values and are looking for an Associate Lecturer Clinical Education Specialist who can demonstrate the following qualifications, skills and attributes:
 


a degree or diploma in nursing and registration with AHPRA as a registered nurse
demonstrated extensive expertise in clinical nursing and commitment to the principles of evidence based practice
Recent experience in the supervision of nursing students
Experience in teaching and learning, as evidenced by participation in team teaching and teaching in a variety of settings
developing knowledge and understanding of contemporary pedagogical practice and design
excellent relationship management skills including an ability to build and maintain ongoing collaborative working relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders including staff, students, external organisations and industry professionals
relevant Masters level nursing qualification
completion or working towards completion of a Master of Philosophy or PhD in a relevant area is desirable
