You will support the Nurse Unit Manager in the leadership of nurses within the Glenside Mental Health Service. Using your clinical knowledge, skills and experience in the application of direction, support, orientation and education to nursing staff, you will participate in action research projects, quality improvement activities and policy development within the practice setting. Promoting continuity and consistency of care, you will contribute to the implementation of practice changes and undertake service management responsibilities. These will include performance management processes, recruitment, staffing, leave management, rostering, work allocation and attendance management; financial and supplies planning and monitoring. Utilising your nursing skills and knowledge, you will support and work collaboratively with less experienced members of the nursing team. You will be registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, and hold or be eligible to hold a current practicing certificate. You must be enrolled in an approved Mental Health course or hold a qualification in Mental Health practice. With prior experience in management and leadership roles, you will be capable of giving supervision to student nurses, enrolled nurses and less experienced registered nurses. You will demonstrate computer literacy in the current nursing and clinical information systems e.g. CBIS, EPAS, OACIS and a strong commitment to consumer and carer participation in mental health care.
