Biomedical Engineer/Technician Grade 1

About the Role
This is an entry level role for a recent graduate or someone looking to begin their career in medical equipment management. You will be supported in this role by other senior staff with structured education, however basic knowledge of anatomy, physiology, electronics and a willingness to learn are essential.

The Grade 1 Biomedical Engineer/Technician works on the evaluation, repair, and maintenance of medical equipment throughout SVHM. The incumbent will also participate in the evaluation of equipment being considered for purchase, providing advice on the design, construction, reliability, cost and safety of medical equipment.

This position provides services to all campuses of SVHM and any external services that have contracted SVHM.

Your Contribution

  • Formal qualifications in Electronics, Electrical or Biomedical Engineering or equivalent qualification or experience.
  • Eligible for membership to Engineers Australia or ACPSEM
  • A knowledge of the relevant Australian and International Standards & their application to medical equipment
  • Basic computer hardware, networking and software skills
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to multi-task
  • A current Australian drivers license
  • Current National criminal history check, or willing to obtain

About the Medical Engineering and Physics Department
Medical Engineering and Physics (MEP) provides a comprehensive range of technical services to St. Vincent’s. MEP are responsible for ensuring that all medical equipment, that is, any device used in the treatment, therapy, monitoring or diagnosis of a patient, are operating in a safe and reliable manner.

MEP also provides radiation safety services with an emphasis on radiation dosimetry.
