Child Health Nurse (Team Leader)

Bega Garnbirringu Health Services Inc (Bega) approaches health service delivery from a holistic perspective and seeks to close the gap in health outcomes for our clients through a multi-faceted approach that includes a high level of attention to the clinical, environmental and social determinants of health.

We are offering a two (2) year contract with an attractive salary package of up to $139,695 p/a (incl. housing, phone allowances; 9.5% Super). Further benefits include salary sacrifice; 35-hour working week; professional development; 5 weeks annual leave; up to 3 days paid leave to facilitate end of year closure; additional public holiday; accrued personal leave paid on out on termination; flexible work environment.

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) Early Childhood Support (ECS) program is to approach, engage and support children under 7 years with developmental delay or disability through timely access to early intervention supports delivered by community service providers. The aim of the NDIS ECS approach is to support families to assist children to gain and use functional skills to participate meaningfully in their daily activities and achieve the best possible outcomes throughout their life.

The Child Health Nurse (Team Leader NDIS ECS) assesses, engages and supports children 0-7 years with developmental delay or disability through timely access to early intervention supports delivered by allied health service providers.  This position provides supervision and leadership to the NDIS ECS team including: Speech Therapist, Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist, Child Psychologist and Family Support Workers.

This position requires Outreach travel as required.

To be considered for this role, you will:
  • hold a current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and Post Graduate qualifications in Child Health;
  • demonstrated experience in the planning, provision, management and evaluation of maternal and child health services in a Primary Health Care environment;
  • Experience in developing implementing and evaluation community-based health promotion programs and health promotion resources for use in cross cultural settings;
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of cultural factors and social determinants particularly relating to Aboriginal Health;
  • Demonstrated ability to provide leadership to a multi-disciplinary team in a complex environment; 
  • Ability to effectively communicate with and conduct in-service training and education sessions to a range of audiences including health professionals; community organisation and community members; 
  • Demonstrated commitment to confidentiality and a high level of accuracy; Ability to manage a clinical caseload and time effectively; 
  • Well-developed problem-solving skills and the ability to effectively determine priorities to ensure deadlines are met;
