Clinical Equipment Manager

CareFlight is an Australian not-for-profit aeromedical organisation. Our mission is to save lives, speed recovery and serve the community.

We operate from locations in NSW, northern WA and the Top End of the NT. Our specially trained doctors, nurses and paramedics use helicopters, aeroplanes, medi-jets and road ambulances to bring a hospital level of care to over 5,000 patients each year. We also deploy medical professionals to remote oil, gas & mining sites, both onshore and offshore.

The role
We are currently recruiting for a full-time Clinical Equipment Manager. This role will be responsible for managing the procurement and maintenance of CareFlight’s clinical / medical equipment and consumables across the organisation and can be based in either Darwin or Bankstown. 
 
Key responsibilities include:
  • Managing the calibration, ongoing maintenance and support of all medical equipment;
  • Liaising with internal stakeholders across multiple disciplines (eg. medical, engineering, aviation);
  • Maintaining medical equipment asset tracking system and producing associated reports;
  • Biomedical engineering liaison and planning;
  • Reviewing, developing and streamlining medical equipment policies and procedures across the organisation;
  • Ordering and overseeing receipt and distribution of medical equipment and consumables;
  • Working with clinical management to determine equipment and consumable requirements for new contracts;
  • Keeping abreast of industry advancements in medical equipment;
  • Reviewing current / recommending new supplier arrangements, ensuring effective agreements are in place; 
  • Additional equipment management projects and responsibilities as required in accordance with skills and experience; and
  • Reviewing and track operational equipment to ensure adequate supply and availability to meet client and operational needs. 

About you
To be successful in this role you will possess the following:
 
  • Current or previous experience as a clinician.
  • Demonstrated experience negotiating / liaising with suppliers in relation to the procurement of equipment and consumables.
  • A sound knowledge and understanding of medical equipment and consumables.
  • Experience using inventory / maintenance management systems.
  • Logistics experience.
  • Good communication skills (written and verbal) and the ability to develop and maintain effective relationships.
  • Excellent organisation skills and the ability to work to schedules / deadlines.
  • Sound computer and Microsoft office skills.
  • Current driver’s licence.
  • The willingness and ability to travel intra and interstate.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team. 
The following will be highly regarded:
 
  • Experience in a similar medical equipment role.
  • Formal training / education in the management of clinical equipment.
  • Project management experience.
