Clinical Leader – Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service


You are a highly motivated, engaging and dedicated clinical leader with expertise in Child and Adolescent Mental Health looking for an opportunity to embrace high involvement in developing a model of care and providing oversight to its integration focusing on the inclusion of patients, families, carers, schools and other health providers. In leading a team of ten, rurally located staff including Psychologists, Social Workers, Nursing and Occupational Therapists you will embrace new technology to achieve strong communication and connection within the team.

This position offers an opportunity to support and supervise all Child and Adolescents in the Northern NSW Region. Expand your horizons and lead multi-disciplinary clinical services across a large geographical catchment providing best practice, evidence based client care within acute Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) community teams in order to maximise the health outcomes for multiple communities within a co-leadership model. The future of the CAMHS is exciting and innovative and developing to ensure our expert resources meet the needs of our community.

You will hold qualifications in nursing, psychology, occupational therapy, social work or a Degree in Bachelor of Health Science Mental Health, Djirruwang Program, and have an extensive insight into the provision of clinical services. Support will be provided by the CAHMS executive based in Newcastle, the clinical lead manager for the southern area of Hunter New England Health and the wider CAMHS network located across the district.

This role will encompass services across three sectors within HNE Health – Peel, Tablelands and Mehi. The New England region offers spectacular waterfalls, gorges, world-heritage national parks, cool-climate vineyards and a fascinating and diverse cultural heritage. This role can be based anywhere within the three sectors, with the major centre Tamworth being the base for most associated services. Tamworth is a city and the major regional centre in the New England region of northern New South Wales, Australia. Situated on the Peel River, it is located almost midway between Brisbane and Sydney and boasts a population of sixty thousand. The city combines city style, history, education, sport and culture with 150 sporting teams, major annual events, private and public education facilities and dining from casual through to opulent.

 Sitting 1000 metres above sea level, New England's High Country offers a truly evocative and unique experience with four distinct seasons. The city of Armidale, a cosmopolitan and sophisticated urban centre, is at the heart of the sector. Located in a picturesque rural setting on the doorstep of some of the most scenic national parks in Australia whilst the towns of Glen Innes, Guyra, Inverell, Tenterfield, Uralla and Walcha share a rich history and stunning natural environment.
