Clinical Nurse Specialist 2 - Triage and Assessment Centre

Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District

The Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District's Mental Health Service has recently commissioned a 24/7 Triage and Assessment Centre to provide consumers with a central access point for mental health assessments, diagnosis, interventions and discharges.  The Centre is focused on delivering evidence based clinical interventions within best practice models of care to achieve good outcomes for consumers, their families and their carers.
Reporting to the Team Leader, the primary accountability for this role is to provide specific and complex mental health assessments, nursing treatments and referral in accordance with relevant mental health guidelines and best practice standards.  You will possess specialist knowledge regarding mental health-specific assessments, clinical and nursing treatments, and referral processes and psycho-educational interventions. 

A bit about you......
You will have post-registration qualifications in Mental Health Nursing with at least three years full time equivalent experience working in a Mental Health specialty area.  You will be comfortable working both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, with strong decision making and problem solving skills.  You will have a solid understanding of the recovery philosophy and trauma informed care in Mental Health, with the ability to implement those within clinical practice, utilising your significant clinical expertise.

You will have a flexible, open and composed manner, professional and respectful, familiar with working in a busy, demanding and complex environment.  You will enjoy a challenging workplace with highly rewarding work, and a wonderfully supportive workplace.

The Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District is responsible for providing community health and hospital care for people living in the Blue Mountains, Hawkesbury, Lithgow and Penrith Local Government Areas, and tertiary care to residents of the Greater Western Region.

Our Local Health District consists of both urban and semi-rural areas, covering almost 9,179 square kilometres and an estimated resident population of almost 350,000 people.  The Dharug, Gundungurra and Wiradjuri people are acknowledged as the traditional Aboriginal owners of the land in our District.

Our Mental Health Service is based at Nepean Hospital at the base of the beautiful Blue Mountains and provides a wide range of inpatient and community-based mental health services across the entire District.
