The Role:
We are seeking an experienced Consultant Obstetrics and Gynaecologist to join an established team, with the opportunity to work in a teaching hospital that serves a diverse population including urban, rural and remote centres.
The position is uniquely challenging due to the geographical isolation, the immense distances involved and the continuing disparity in health access and outcomes for indigenous women and their babies compared to other women in Australia
This is the main tertiary referral centre with the capacity to manage a wide range of clinical conditions and supports a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
The position provides applicants with a broad scope of clinical practice including the opportunity to manage complex obstetric and gynaecological case, participate in outreach services to regional hospitals and remote communities and engage in clinical supervision and teaching.
The birth rate at the Hospital is approximately 2200 deliveries per annum. The delivery rates do not truly reflect the clinical workload. The case mix is varied and includes a high preterm delivery rate (15%) and serious maternal morbidity with diabetes mellitus, renal disease and rheumatic heart disease.

The Hospital is a Teaching Hospital that has 360 beds, servicing a population of over 140,000 it is a diverse population including urban, regional and remote centres.
It has a wide range of specialist services in Emergency Medicine, Anaesthetics, Intensive Care and Coronary Care, acute medical and surgical, Rehabilitation, Obstetrics and Gynaecology and Mental Health.

Skills & Qualifications required:
Applicants must be eligible for specialist registration with the Medical Board of Australia together with a current Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.

Specialist Clinician Remuneration Package Range $196,946 - $240,619
(comprising salary, superannuation, leave loading and the value of 2 weeks extra recreation leave)
Potential total Remuneration Package in the vicinity of $400,700 which includes the above Package Range and in addition; salary sacrifice provisions, second roster allowance, private practice allowance and professional development allowance and salary sacrifice provisions
