NWRH is currently seeking an Endorsed Enrolled Nurse to join our Aged Care Hostel on Mornington Island, on a full-time basis.

Suitable candidates will be able to work on a four (4) weeks on, and one (1) week off rotation, with paid flights in and out of Cairns or Townsville, if preferable.

Reporting to the Facility Manager, you will be responsible for the day to day delivery of quality care, lifestyle and accommodation for NWRH residents and community aged care clients. You will also act as second-in-charge (2IC) for the facility and therefore be required to cover the managerial responsibilities in the Facility Manager's absence.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Providing nursing care to care recipients, in the Residential Aged Care Facility in line with the accordance with the relevant funding contracts and aged care quality frameworks;
  • Ensuring client care, kitchen, cleaning, laundry and maintenance activities are performed efficiently, effectively and in accordance with relevant Standards and budget;
  • Taking active involvement in the intake of new residents to the facility ensuring they and their families understand their rights and responsibilities as well as NWRH’s responsibilities and obligations; and
  • Working in accordance with systems and processes that support accreditation standards for residential aged care service and packaged care; and supporting quality improvement activities.

Whilst only a relatively small, 15 bed facility, the challenges of being based in a remote area mean that the level of responsibility and volume of work required in this position is similar to that of a large facility. As such, this role would be best suited to someone looking for that type of role.
