Remuneration value up to $228,196 p.a. comprising salary between $155,589 p.a. - $165,291 p.a. (MOR1-1 - MOR1-3); employer superannuation contribution (up to 12.75%), annual leave loading (17.5%), professional development allowance, professional development leave 3.6 weeks p.a., professional indemnity cover. Duties/Abilities
  • Fulfil the responsibilities of this role in accordance with the Queensland Public Service and the Mackay HHS Values as outlined above and here.
  • Follow defined service quality standards, occupational health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken in order to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.
  • The provision of a Healthy and Safe environment within Mackay Hospital and Health Service is everyone’s responsibility.
  • Understand your accountability to uphold the principles and practices of the Health Service’s Health and Safety Management System in accordance with legislation and industry standards.  As a supervisor actively promote good health and safety practices to staff of your work area.
  • Understand your broad responsibility for safety and quality in healthcare, actively participate in continuous quality and safety improvement activities within the workplace and notify a relevant clinical or non-clinical responsible officer when concerns exist about workplace or patient safety.
  • Understand your accountability to uphold the principles and practices of the Health Service’s Health and Safety Management System in accordance with legislation and industry standards.  As a supervisor actively promote good health and safety practices to staff of your work area.
  • Participate in Clinical Governance by proactively managing patient feedback, attending peer review audits, monitoring care outcomes and reporting promptly to the Medical Superintendent Private Practice (MSPP) and the Executive Director of Rural Services (EDRS).
  • Provide ethical decision making in the achievement of organisational goals.
  • Maintain good communications with all areas and disciplines within the Mackay Hospital and Health Service and with other medical practitioners and health professionals to ensure smooth and effective operation of the health service.
  • The investigation and preparation of reports and other documentation, including those concerned with complaints by patients and other relevant practices.
  • Ensure comprehensive, accurate and concise medical records are maintained for all patients for whom responsible.
  • Participate in educational activities for all levels of staff within the hospital and in accordance to ensure you maintain the appropriate skills and qualifications.
  • Attend meetings with staff to ensure planning policy matters at the hospital are supported by medical staff.
  • Participate in the Queensland Health’s “Performance Appraisal and Development” process.
  • Participate in quality assurance and accreditation programs.
  • Attend to patients in accident and emergency as required at the hospital.
  • Conduct a daily inpatient ward round.
  • Undertake on-call responsibilities on rotation with the MSPP when not in attendance at the hospital.
  • During on-call periods, attend outpatients and inpatients at the hospital whose condition, by its nature or other circumstances, requires the attendance of a medical practitioner.
  • Provide supervision and/or direction to junior medical staff as applicable.
