Within the framework of the National Mental Health Policy and National Standards, you will use the process of nursing to deliver direct and comprehensive nursing care and individual case management to consumers within the Inpatient Rehabilitation Service at Glenside. The provision of education, counselling and group work are considered essential components of care which are directed towards the attainment of optimum consumer health and recovery. This will involve consultation and liaison with other professional disciplines and non-governmental organisations. You will accept accountability for your own standards of nursing care and for activities delegated to others. As part of your role, you will participate in quality improvement activities that contribute to consumer safety, risk minimisation and safe work activities within the practice setting. SA Health is committed to policy development, facilities planning and advancing Mental Health Reform throughout the State and the community. The mental health system is focused on improving service integration, governance, population based services, consumer and carer engagement, and recovery focused care.
 
You will be registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and hold or be eligible to hold a current practicing certificate. You must be enrolled in an approved Mental Health course or hold a qualification in Mental Health practice. With demonstrated competence in mental health nursing practice in accordance with the appropriate standards of practice, you will be skilled in the areas of assessment, planning care, evaluation of care, provision of therapeutic interventions and understanding of group processes and counselling. You will possess effective communication, organisation and time management skills.
