Mental Health Worker - Casual

Guthrie House

The Mental Health Worker will provide professional mental health support to the clients of Guthrie House to maximise rehabilitative opportunities that facilitate re-integration into suitable community-based accommodation. This includes conducting mental health assessments, care co-ordination and referral to appropriate community-based services, delivery of group based educational programs, and supporting the case management team to improve mental health outcomes.

The salary is per the SCHADS Award 2010 – Grade 4 (pay point dependent on experience) with salary packaging available.
 
Essential Criteria
  • Current Mental Health qualification and credentialing, or working towards credentialed status
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in mental health or psychological interventions
  • Strong skill base in interviewing and assessment
  • Sound knowledge of psychotropic medications and medication management
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of diagnostic criteria in relation to mental health
  • Demonstrated experience in duty of care as it pertains to relevant mental health legislation
  • Current NSW driver’s license
  • Knowledge of focused psychological strategies, psycho-educational techniques and skills training
  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills to work proactively with General Practitioners, Psychiatrists, other health professionals, significant others and stakeholders  
  • Desirable Criteria
  • Demonstrated experience in community mental health nursing
