At BRHS, we have an opportunity for a full-time Midwife to join our collaborative Maternity Services team in Bairnsdale, VIC. Together, we provide woman-centred care with choice for all patients. No two days will look the same, as you embrace opportunities to practice midwifery across the whole spectrum in a supportive environment and further develop your skills. 

You will be working within Rotamah, a 17-bed Midwifery, Paediatric, Palliative and General Medical ward, providing a diverse mix of patient care requirements. You will work as part of our skilled nursing and midwifery team with Medical, Allied Health, and Ancillary staff support. BRHS is an accredited Baby-Friendly facility demonstrating our commitment to evidence-based best-practice and providing the highest standard of maternity care to parents and babies. 

You will work various shifts across a seven-day roster in this role, with some overnight shifts required. You will also participate in the after-hours on-call roster.

Role objectives:
  • Culturally appropriate care: provide culturally appropriate care and involve all key stakeholders working collaboratively to meet the community's needs, support their colleagues, and the aims of the organisation proactively and positively.
  • Evidence-based approach: provide safe midwifery and nursing care that is evidence-based and achieves quality maternal, neonatal outcomes.
  • Patient choice of care: provide care and facilities aligned with each woman's needs, ensuring our team offers the right care by the right health professionals in the right setting.
  • Excellence in Midwifery: Be an integral and active member of the Midwifery team, providing excellence in midwifery care, following BRHS policies and procedures and legislative conditions.

In return for your hard work and dedication, you will receive generous remuneration circa $76,195 - $90,828. You will also have access to a range of additional benefits, including:

  • Additional five days professional development leave 
  • Reimbursement of Australian College of Midwives professional membership fees ($365) when next due

About You

To thrive as a Midwife with BRHS, you will be an AHPRA registered nurse with some experience under your belt. You will also need a minimum level 2 qualification in fetal surveillance.

Importantly, you'll be confident and proactive, with the ability to problem-solve autonomously.
