Based in the vibrant city of Ararat in the picturesque Pyrenees and Grampians districts.
This is a wonderful opportunity to join a small team who will provide ongoing support and supervision to enable you to learn all aspects of Occupational Therapy, along with an opportunity to assist with development of a Paediatric Service provision.
With a model of best practice, you will have a mixed case load of all ages across acute, rehabilitation, aged care, and community. Providing therapy services within aged care settings (minimal), school settings , participants homes, whilst collaborating with clients, their families and relevant agencies to provide the best outcomes and goals.
Working with a large and diverse customer base across the Western region, the social demographics are varied. Referrals are from NDIS, DVA and TAC, as well as Home Care Packages and GP Management Plans. The home care packages range from small AT items up to full bathroom modifications.
NDIS clients may include Mental Health issues, Paediatrics, Supported Disability Accommodation for all ages and disabilities, as well as undertaking capacity building activities like improvement of daily living skills.
You will have ongoing opportunities to undertake functional assessments for people of all ages and abilities for access to funding streams, as well as be an advocate for clients attempting to gain access to NDIS.

Key Selection Criteria: (Please address this in a cover letter)
- Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (or equivalent qualification)
- Current AHPRA registration, eligible for membership of Occupational Therapy Australia
- An understanding of the role that an Occupational Therapist plays within the domains of Disability, Paediatric Practice and Community Health
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability and willingness to be responsive to clients changing needs in a timely manner
- Sound skills in organization, time management, planning and priority setting
- Understanding of and commitment to client and family-centred care
- Commitment to professional development and evidence-based practice
- Willingness to the ongoing development of the service
- Experience in and/or interest in Paediatric Occupational Therapy; The provision of Assistive Technology
- Working with Children , National Police Check, Current drivers licence
- Up to date CPR and First Aid training or willing to undertake
