Nexus community health have an opportunity for an experienced Occupational Therapist who is passionate about working with children to join their dynamic friendly team. The position is based at Wallan and newly re-furbished Broadford clinics with some work also being undertaken at Seymour , Kinglake and outreach services undertaken in client’s homes, kindergartens, school and similar community settings.
The occupational therapist role will fulfil a diverse and flexible role in the provision of occupational therapy services to paediatric clients and their families through variety of funding sources, including Medicare Benefits Scheme (MBS), Helping Children with Autism, Better Start, NDIS, Community Health (CH) funding and other privately funded sources. An interest in working with children with disabilities and developmental delay is essential.
You will provide timely comprehensive OT assessment, plan assessment and intervention goals which are based on the most current evidence-based research. Working with children under the age of 18 years and their families/carers to create, implement and review a holistic care plan independently as well as develop strategies for children to optimise their functional capacity whilst being creative, fun and flexible.
This role is a member of the children’s allied health team which includes a variety of allied health disciplines who work together to provide coordinated multidisciplinary care.
There are also Health education/Promotion responsibilities and you may play a role in the planning, implementation and evaluation processes of program development and projects.

- Bachelor Masters of Occupational Therapy
- Member of AHPRA.
- Eligible to provide service under a variety of funding sources and to obtain practitioner provider numbers as required.
- Understanding of typical and atypical childhood development.
- Excellent and timely report writing skills.
- Excellent time management and organisational skills.
- Able to coordinate services and report back to management.
- Able to work autonomously and within a multidisciplinary team.
- Able to work in a client centred, strengths based approach to empower clients and their families.
- Current Driver’s Licence
