What started as a small-scale community program in 1987 has grown to provide disability services from 18 sites across west and south-west Sydney.

With the mission of 'creating new possibilities in people's lives', The Junction Works are committed to creating opportunities for people with a disability and supporting those suffering from hardship and disadvantage.

About the Opportunity

The Junction Works has an exciting opportunity for a qualified Occupational Therapist, working within Sydney’s western suburbs. This position will ideally be offered on a full-time basis, however The Junction Works is flexible and willing to negotiate part-time or flexible hours for the right person.

The role is primarily responsible for providing specialist support services to a varied caseload, including NDIS clients, who present with a range of needs including skills development, daily living, fine and gross motor skills and home modifications.

Appointments are conducted within The Junction Works day programs and therapy centres, as well as client schools and homes, and you will be working within a billable hours environment.

More specifically, your key duties will include (but will not be limited to):
  • Managing a diverse caseload encompassing clients of all ages and needs;
  • Assessing participant strengths and needs to design a program that supports individual goals within NDIS packages;
  • Involving clients, carers and significant others in all aspects of service delivery;
  • Collaborating with other clinical disciplines in the development and delivery of therapeutic interventions; and
  • Providing support to other Works Practice therapists and students where required.

New graduates will work directly with your supervisors and have the opportunity to receive training in all aspects of the role, including collaborating with other disciplines from time to time.

About You

To be considered, you must be a degree-qualified Occupational Therapist with AHPRA registration or eligibility to obtain.

You must be able to demonstrate strong problem solving and analytical skills, as well as the ability to provide sound advice when handling complex and sensitive issues.

Importantly, you will need to be a team player who is able to work effectively and collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team and in partnership with other services. Your empathy and ability to remain understanding of various needs and circumstances will also be essential to your success in the role.

Please note: You will need to hold a Current NSW Class C driver's licence and have, or to be willing to obtain, a current First Aid Certificate and current NSW Working with Children Check. You will also need access to your own transportation and be willing to travel as required.
