Occupational Therapist(Children & Youth) - Drysdale

A multidisciplinary community health team seeks an experienced Grade 2 Children’s Occupational Therapist who enjoys working collaboratively in a community setting.

Providing  range of assessments, evidence best practice therapy services to children and young people from under-resourced families. Gain exposure to a diverse caseload and work closely with clients in providing therapy services for children whilst building the capacity of clients, families and community (inclusive of NDIS participants).

Essential Criteria:
  • Bachelor of Applied Science (Occupational Therapy)/ Bachelor of Occupational Therapy/ Masters of Occupational Therapy and AHPRA registration
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience working with children:conducting assessments; delivering Occupational Therapy interventions within a multidisciplinary team
  • Demonstrated knowledge, experience and commitment to service delivery which is:  family centred; collaborative; evidence/strength-based practice; timely in response; building capacity and maximising opportunities that support children with disability and developmental delays along with their families within their local community.
  • Demonstrated skill in researching, developing and innovating support options.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and work flexibly in a changing environment
  • Demonstrated ability to work within in a multi-disciplinary team environment with individual clients and initiate and implement group programs
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and negotiation skills both written and verbal
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of CQI processes and an understanding and experience in implementing workplace OHS
  • Current working with children’s check, Police check , Victorian Driver’s License and eligible to obtain an ABN and Medicare provider number
  • Experience in a community health/development setting, knowledge of health literacy approaches and building the capacity of individuals and families
  • Knowledge of key worker model
  • Working knowledge of electronic data bases and recording statistics for compliance with funded targets
  • Experience with and or understanding of the National Disability Insurance Scheme systems (NDIS)
  • Experience working with and supervising Allied Health Assistants

They operate from five health centres and provide various health services such as allied health, public dental service, young people's services and programs most needed by the local community, with scaled fees to enable everyone to be able to afford quality healthcare.
