Physiotherapist: Alexandra

The position requires you to deliver physiotherapy services as part of a multidisciplinary team. You will participate in the planning, implementation and evaluation of the services provided.

You will also offer comprehensive primary health care and chronic management in an outpatient and inpatient setting. This will include individual and group programs like falls prevention, strength training and multidisciplinary rehabilitation programs. You will also gain experience working in an acute environment where you will deliver mobility assessments, chest physiotherapy, and supporting post-surgical patients after minor surgeries.

The caseload will primarily include older demographics with post-surgical or post-rehabilitation requirements. Your caseload will also include patients with long-term chronic conditions looking for rehabilitation programs such as “Stall the fall”.

The successful candidate will be required to meet the organisation's values, manage OH&S guidelines and meet the mandatory clinical and non-clinical organisation competencies program.

Key Essential Criteria:
  • Bachelor in Physiotherapy
  • Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) or approved tertiary qualification in Physiotherapy
  • Eligibility for Australian Physiotherapy Association membership
  • Current Driver’s License
  • Knowledge and skills appropriate to level of experience as a Physiotherapist
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team with a clear patient focus
  • Effective time management and prioritisation skills
  • High level of personal resilience
  • Initiative and a systematic approach to problem-solving
  • Proficiency in the use of IT

Desirable:
  • Excellent communication skills with a wide range of health professionals and service providers
  • Interest in working in a rural setting
  • Experience in an acute hospital and/or aged care setting
  • Knowledge of a wide range of health professionals and service providers

Core Competencies:
  • Excellent communication skills verbal and written
  • Good computer skills in word processing and presentations - Ability to work independently.
  • An understanding of factors affecting clients with both immediate (acute), rehabilitation and post-surgical needs
  • A philosophy of care that promotes client independence with their health and lifestyle
The well established major health service has a long and proud history in health service provision to the area, providing inpatient and outpatient services. These include specialist medical services, operating theatre services, radiology, pathology and district nursing. The hospital also delivers community health services including a wide range of allied health and health promotion services.

Alexandra has an aging population with an average admission age of over 65. The town also has varied demographics presenting to urgent care with tourists who visit the area.

The organisation is situated near Goulburn River and Lake Eildon, and is surrounded by rich pastoral land, mountains and forests. It offers a great lifestyle with water sports, bush-walking, horse riding and trials and within easy reach is the ski resort region of Mount Buller. The town centre has a number of historical buildings dating from the 1850 Gold Rush. The town also has great facilities including a bakery, great cafes, pubs and restaurants.
