About Department
8 West is a 24 bed unit compromising of 20 acute medical beds and 4 Acute Care of the Elderly (ACE) beds. 8 West also has a Discharge Lounge that operates Monday to Friday. 8 West upholds strong values of providing high quality care to our patients and excellent communication between all health professionals from all disciplines. All staff on 8 West are required to actively participate in their own professional development and self-directed learning in order to maintain high quality clinical skills and knowledge.

About the Role
The Grade 2 Registered Nurse, under the guidance of the Nurse Unit Manager or Associate Nurse Unit Manager, will be responsible for the delivery of expert clinical care in General Medicine. The Grade 2 Registered Nurse will be responsible for ensuring his / her own professional development in order to maintain clinical skills and knowledge.


Classifications for this position will range between YP3 - YP11 ($67,236.00 - $89,902.80 base salary per annum - pro rata for part time work).

Duties

  • Demonstrates a Person Care Approach in all aspects of daily nursing practice
  • Demonstrates active pursuit of professional development relating to General Medicine and relevant medical conditions
  • Completes all competencies as directed by the Nurse Unit Manager achieving 100%
  • Acts as a role model and supports junior staff in all clinical aspects
  • Accurately documents patient care in accordance with hospital documentation guidelines

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor of Nursing which meets the registration requirements of the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Demonstrated understanding of professional nursing issues
  • Knowledge of workplace statutory and regulatory requirements and their impact on nursing care delivery
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients and staff at all levels
  • General Medical experience highly desirable
