Registered Nurse - Medical Oncology


Registered Nurse Medical Oncology

We are looking for registered Nurses with medical Oncology experience, or experienced Nurses looking to expand their skill set into medical oncology to work in our St Leonards Clinic. We have both full and part time positions available.

The primary purpose of the Oncology Registered Nurse is to provide clinical care, education and support the delivery of exceptional patient experience by responding to patient needs as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver high quality care.

The registered Nurse demonstrates competence in providing Nursing care to the Oncology patient as specified by registration requirements, Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia standards for practice and other relevant legislation. The registered Nurse is expected to observe, conceptualize, diagnose, and analyse clinical or nonclinical problems related to health; and to consider a range of theory relevant to understanding those problems and determining possible treatment options. Responsibilities include clinical practice, education, research, and consultation.

You'll be responsible for the delivery of total care of the client, to promote physical and mental well being and safety, in accordance with GenesisCare national and local policy and under the direction of the Centre Leader, Director of Nursing and Medical Practitioners.

What you’ll do:

  • Assesses and plans Nursing care for the patient using GenesisCare templates
  • Administration of medications as per GenesisCare policy and procedure
  • Performs Nursing observations as per policy and procedure
  • Attends to Nursing procedures following competency assessment and/or education.
  • Contemporaneous documentation as per GenesisCare policy and procedure
  • Establishes a compassionate environment by providing emotional, psychological and spiritual support to patients, family and friends
  • Provides comprehensive patient education as per GenesisCare policy and procedure
  • Provides mentoring to junior staff and or students
  • Collaborates with oncologists and the multidisciplinary team
  • Maintains a safe and clean environment working within GenesisCare Policy and Procedure
  • Maintains own professional development and sets goals to address gaps or desired growth
  • Protects patients and their families by adhering to infection control policy and procedure
  • Maintains patient and organisation confidence by adhering to policy and procedure
  • Contributes to the team effort by assisting with team goals
  • Bring a positive, enthusiastic and ‘can-do’ attitude to work
  • Develop and maintain professional working relationships
  • Resonate with the high performance GenesisCare culture

Who you are:

  • Eligible for unrestricted registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA
  • Sound clinical experience and competence as a registered nurse
  • Exemplary interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to demonstrate empathy for patients and their carers
  • Demonstrated clinical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to plan and coordinate the clinical management of care
  • Commitment to and involvement in the application of quality improvement and evidence-based practice principles
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a team member
  • Evidence of continuing professional development


  • Experience in the field of Oncology working with a variety of patients
  • Working towards post graduate education
