Registered Nurse - Mental Health

About the role:

  • Work with both the medical centres and the outreach teams to provide mental health support to patients. Using Stepped Model of Care, Extended Consultations and ABC Alcohol Brief Interventions to provide appropriate care, both in clinics and in the community.
  • Full time role
  • Monday - Friday
  • 8:00am – 5.00pm
  • Work mainly with Maori, Pacific and Asian Health

What you have to do:

  • Manage care for all the mental health clients including running programmes and one on one consults
  • Build strong relationships by reassuring, listening, and talking to patients
  • Combating stigma and helping patients and their families deal with mental health issues
  • Administering medication
  • Agreeing and reviewing care plans and monitoring progress
  • Provide education and support for patients and whanau
  • Motivate patients to take part in therapeutic activities
  • Use Medtech and CRM Systems and other relevant IT tools
  • Be responsible and driven in regards to professional nursing development
  • actively contribute to ongoing quality improvements in mental health service delivery

Skills & Experience:

  • Registered Nurse with a current Annual Practicing Certificate/APC or ability to get one
  • Good experience in mental health
  • A solid understanding of Whanau Ora Model and Stepped Model of Care
  • The ability to work independently in both clinical and outreach settings
  • Developed report writing and data analysis skills
  • Good English communication skills. Tongan language desirable but not essential
  • Full clean Driver’s License
