Research Fellow - Emergency Department

St Vincent's Hospital

About the Role
You are responsible for the coordination and development of the EPICentre’s research activities across SVHM and other health services and universities. It is a position of leadership which requires the incumbent to work both independently and in close association with the Director of Emergency Medicine Research to achieve the strategic goals of the EPICentre and the Department of Emergency Medicine. The research fellow will work closely with the EPICentre team to achieve high quality researches for the department and secure external funding and grants to support the ongoing business of the department.

  • Identify and discuss opportunities, needs and directions for research and evaluation with collaborators and clinicians in the ED.
  • Facilitate collaboration and effective communication between internal and external stakeholders (eg, Research staff, Universities, medical and surgical specialities, Masters and PhD students, external agencies)
  • Monitor the progress and ongoing implementation and evaluation of research projects conducted by the EPICentre or in liaison with the EPICentre and ED
  • Identify, coordinate, and circulate information regarding new research initiatives and funding opportunities

The classification for this position will HS4 ($83,657 per annum) pro rata.

Your Contribution

  • Relevant undergraduate degree in the Health Sciences or a related discipline
  • Experience in the emergency medicine environment
  • Experience with research submissions and publication
  • Demonstrated experience for identifying, developing and conducting research in an acute health care setting
  • Current National criminal history check, or willing to obtain

About the Emergency Practice Innovation Centre
The Emergency Practice Innovation Centre (EPICentre) is the research unit of the Department of Emergency Medicine, St. Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne. The EPICentre supports emergency staff and clinicians in conducting clinical and non-clinical research, quality improvement and auditing related to emergency medicine, in particular critical care, complex and marginalised patients, alcohol and drug related issues, indigenous health, homelessness, emergency department (ED) processes and equity in emergency care.
