Nganampa Health Council is an Aboriginal owned and controlled health organisation operating on the Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara Lands in the far north west of South Australia. Across this area, Nganampa Health operates seven clinics, an aged care facility and assorted health related programs including aged care, sexual health, environmental health, health worker training, dental, women's health, male health, children's health and mental health.

Nganampa Health Council is widely recognised as being an exemplar Aboriginal health service in the country. Their successes include significantly reducing the rates of sexually transmitted infections, increasing birth weights through their antenatal program, consistently keeping childhood immunisation rates at 100% and providing high quality residential and respite aged care at their Tjilpiku Pampaku Ngura aged care facility.

About the Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Residential Care Manager to join the Nganampa Health Council team, based in Pukatja (Ernabella), in remote North West, South Australia. This is a full-time, two year contract, with the possibility of extension.

Reporting to the Aged Care & Social Services Program Manager, you will oversee the day-to-day functions, administration and service delivery of the Tjilpiku Pampaku Ngura aged care facility.

Your key responsibilities will include:
  • Taking responsibility for the effective and efficient delivery of regional aged care residential, respite and palliative care services;
  • In conjunction with the Aged Care & Social Services Program Manager, ensuring there are adequate human and other resources available to deliver services;
  • Ensuring services reflect a person-centred approach to high quality care for residents that promotes their family, cultural and community linkages;
  • Ensuring services are aligned with values, strategic goals and plans of the organisation;
  • Ensuring services are delivered within a framework of continuous improvement, that regulatory requirements are met, and that risks are effectively identified and managed;
  • Providing effective leadership, supervision and support to the staff team.
The successful candidate will have significant managerial experience within an aged care facility, and hold a Certificate III or IV in Aged Care, or an equivalent qualification. Although not essential, additional qualifications in human services management, workforce training and assessment, and/or Enrolled Nursing would be advantageous.
