Speech Pathologist - Drysdale

Perfect opportunity to work in a community setting. Gain exposure to diverse caseload and work closely with children and young people from under-resourced families who are experiencing a broad range of communication and swallowing difficulties.

A friendly supportive multi-disciplinary team and ideal position to enhance leadership skills by offering supervision to students and allied health assistants.

Essential Criteria:
  • Degree or qualification in Speech Pathology (recognised by Speech Pathology Australia)
  • Three (3) years minimum experience working with children (0-12 years), with developmental delays and disabilities
  • Demonstrated specialised knowledge and experience in quality service and interventions
  • National Police Check / Working with Children's Check (WWCC)
  • Degree or qualification in speech pathology (recognised by Speech Pathology Australia)
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience working with children, young people and their families conducting assessments and delivering speech pathology intervention-based programs within a multidisciplinary team
  • Demonstrated knowledge, experience and commitment to service delivery which is family centred and inclusive of collaboration, evidence/strength-based practice, timely in response, building capacity and maximising opportunities that support children and young people with disability and developmental delays along with their families within their local community.
  • Demonstrated skills in researching, developing and implementing new therapy interventions and support options.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, prioritise, work flexibly in a changing environment and autonomously as required
  • Demonstrated ability to work within in a multi-disciplinary team environment with individual clients and initiate and implement group programs
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development to strengthen existing skills and further develop capacity of the service
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and negotiation skills both written and verbal
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of CQI processes and an experience in , and an understanding of workplace OHS
  • Current working with children’s check
  • Current Police check (within 12 months of application)
  • Eligible to obtain an ABN and Medicare provider number
  • Current Victorian Driver’s License
  • Experience in a community health/development setting, knowledge of health literacy approaches and building the capacity of individuals and families
  • Knowledge of key worker model
  • Working knowledge of electronic data bases and recording statistics for compliance with funded targets
  • Experience with and or understanding of the National Disability Insurance Scheme systems (NDIS)
  • Experience working with and supervising Allied Health Assistants and students

This Community Health organisation is a major provider of primary health services to the Bellarine Peninsula. They operate from five health centres in Drysdale, Ocean Grove, Point Lonsdale and Portarlington and provide various health services such as allied health, public dental service, young people's services and programs most needed by the local community, with scaled fees to enable everyone to be able to afford quality healthcare.
