Speech Pathologist Grade 2

Irabina Autism services is seeking a part time Speech Pathologist Grade 2 to join our dynamic team at our Bayswater site.

Irabina is dedicated to transforming the lives of young people and families living with autism and severe behavioural issues. We provide a range of services including: diagnosis, early intervention, training and development, education and support and school holiday programs incorporating strong clinical governance and practice by highly qualified clinicians with their core expertise in the area of autism. The clinicians come from a variety of disciplines some of which include speech pathology, psychology, occupational therapy, educators, behavioural analysis, nursing, paediatrics, dietetics, and social work.

The successful applicant will perform the following tasks:
  • Plan and provide therapy to children with an ASD in a trans-disciplinary group environment, and in individual therapy sessions which may include outreach to family homes and / or preschool or school settings. This will be consistent with identified family centred goals.
  • Provide information regarding speech, language, pragmatics, and the role of the Speech Pathologist to families
  • Document all assessment and intervention information consistent with Irabina policies
  • Undertake education sessions to families, team members and community members to improve outcomes for children with an ASD
  • Attend regular team meetings and contribute to team and  Irabina-wide planning and evaluation of services
  • Participate in student supervision
  • Develop and coordinate specific groups or projects as negotiated within the clinical team
  • Participate in clinical supervision with Speech Pathology team leader ( as needed)

The successful applicant will possess the following:
  • Speech Pathology Qualification.
  • Practicing membership of Speech Pathology Australia.
  • Experience in Paediatric Speech Pathology service provision.
  • Experience with diagnosis and intervention with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
  • Awareness of principles of, and dedication to evidence-based practice.
  • Awareness of the principles of family centred practice.
  • Eligible for a Medicare provider number.
  • Working with Children Check.
  • Current and valid Police check.
  • Current drivers licence.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
