Bega Garnbirringu Health Services Inc (Bega) approaches health service delivery from a holistic perspective and seeks to close the gap in health outcomes for our clients through a multi-faceted approach that includes a high level of attention to the clinical, environmental and social determinants of health.

We are offering a two (2) year contract with an attractive salary package of up to $117,245.00 (incl. 9.5% Super; 17.5% leave loading; $16,000.00 p/a housing allowance). Further benefits include salary sacrifice; 35-hour working week; professional development; up to 3 days paid leave to facilitate end of year closure; additional public holiday; accrued personal leave paid on out on termination; flexible work environment.

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) Early Childhood Support (ECS) program is to approach, engage and support children under 7 years with developmental delay or disability through timely access to early intervention supports delivered by community service providers. The aim of the NDIS ECS approach is to support families to assist children to gain and use functional skills to participate meaningfully in their daily activities and achieve the best possible outcomes throughout their life.

Under the direction of the Team Leader (Child Health Nurse) NDIS ECS, the Speech Therapist provides a culturally appropriate service including assessment, treatment and evaluation of clients and work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to support the care and developmental needs of Aboriginal children and their families in the Goldfields. This position provides specialised assessment, health promotion and community development activities.

This position requires Outreach travel as required.

To be considered for this role, you will:
  • A tertiary qualification in Speech Therapy;
  • A current registration with AHPRA and the Speech Therapy Board of Australia;
  • A minimum of 3 years working experience;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of varied methods of assessment, treatment and evaluation;
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of cultural factors and social determinants particularly relating to Aboriginal Health;
  • High level oral and written communication skills, including the ability to relate well to staff and to liaise effectively with key stakeholders;
  • Demonstrated commitment to confidentiality and a high level of accuracy;
  • Ability to manage a clinical caseload and time effectively;
  • Well-developed problem-solving skills and the ability to effectively determine priorities to ensure deadlines are met;
  • Work effectively as a member of a team in an environment of competing priorities;
  • A current Working With Children Check and Police Certificate (within 6 months)
