About the Role
An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Health Information Manager to join the St Vincent’s Private Melbourne team as the State Clinical Coding Manager. Reporting directly to the HIS Manager you will be responsible for the management of our clinical coding team to ensure we meet end of month targets and continue to work towards a code right first time philosophy.
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:
- Manage a high-performing team that delivers quantity and quality results
- Lead and support efficient workflows
- Strengthen and maintain relationships between HIS, CDI, VMOs and site based leaders in the pursuit of coding and documentation integrity
- Guide, train and mentor Clinical Coders
- Accurate and timely coding of separations using ICD-10-AM, ACHI and the Australian Coding Standards as well as relevant state and national advice
- Liaise with relevant staff to obtain additional information required to perform accurate coding
- Be able to manage and prioritise own work
- Actively participate in education, training and quality activities.

About You
You will be a highly organised and process driven individual. Critical to this role is a high level of accuracy, attention to detail and efficient time management skills.
Applicants must have:
- Bachelor of Health Information Management or Certificate IV/Diploma in Clinical Classification
- High level, practical knowledge of Australian Coding Standards
- Minimum five years coding experience
- Experience coding complex casemix
- Experience leading or managing teams
- Experience with private sector funding models would be desirable but not essential
- Understanding of privacy and confidentiality requirements
- Excellent organisation and communication skills
- Strong communication skills to effectively engage internal stakeholders and team members
- A strong level of computer literacy/knowledge
