About the Organisation and the Intensive Family Support program

Lutheran Community Care (LCC) provides community services on behalf of the Lutheran Church in SA and NT through a range of programs including emergency relief, financial counselling and wellbeing, family support and education, foster care, housing and family shelter, and refugee services.

Funded by the Federal Government, the Intensive Family Support program is an intensive home and community based family support service offered to highly vulnerable families in the NT and APY lands. The program focuses on improving outcomes for children aged 0-12 in families referred through Child Protection Income Management (CPIM).

About the Opportunities

Lutheran Community Care now has 2 x opportunities available for Social Workers to join the Intensive Family Support Services team based in Hermannsburg, Northern Territory (or Ntaria as it know by the local Aboriginal people), approximately 130kms from Alice Springs.

  • Team Leader - Intensive Family Support Service - This is a full-time, 2 month contract position available for an immediate start. Contract extension is a possibility after this time.
  • Senior Case Manager - This is a full-time, contract position to June 30, 2020. It is available for an immediate start with contract extension a possibility after this time.

The key aim and objective of these roles is to:

  • Support referred families to improve their ability to protect and care for their children using a strengths-based approach;
  • Coordinate support with case planning and assessment; and
  • Conduct planned home/ family visits in locations of choice as part of the IFSS team.

Day-to-day this will include (but not be limited to):

  • Assisting families to address identified issues threatening their parenting capacity and other factors contributing to their disadvantage;
  • Assessing the priority and providing appropriate responses to families that demonstrate high and complex needs;
  • Advocating for clients with relevant government and non-government agencies to assist in achieving positive outcomes; and
  • Providing an integrated intervention service that responds to the needs of clients referred to the programs.

The Team Leader will perform the same responsibilities as the Senior Case Manager, with the added responsibility of supervising the Intensive Family Support Services team. As such, previous supervisory experience will be a requirement for this particular role.

The Senior Case Manager will be offered a competitive remuneration package circa $68,310.32-$71,384.97 + super, commensurate with skills and experience.

The Team Leader will be offered a competitive remuneration package circa $74,475.44-$77,716.08 + super, commensurate with skills and experience.
