Trade Cook

About the Role

You will prepare and produce meals according to the production reports and standard recipes, completing bulk cook/chill food production whilst adhering to strict food safety standards.

  • Deliver a high standard of patient food services and ensure competency certification of all tasks undertaken
  • Observe and follow correct food handling policies and procedures as documented in the Food Safety Program
  • Monitor waste management and stock rotation
  • Ensure the production schedule is complete and ready for plating staff
  • Ensure all food is prepared cooked, stored and labelled as per work schedule

The classification for this position will be GR3 ($26.64 per hour) plus casual loading

Your Contribution

  • Certificate in Commercial Cookery or equivalent
  • A keen knowledge and awareness of food safety plans and possible dietary requirements
  • Current Food Handlers Certificate (HLTFSE001)
  • Experience in high volume food services
  • Customer service driven
  • Current National Criminal History Check, or willing to obtain

About the Food Services Team

St Vincent’s Fitzroy Food service department is a central production kitchen providing food for 11 sites and for St Vincent’s itself. We are fully functional kitchen operating 365 days of the year, producing approximately 2500 meals daily in accordance to the “cook-chill” methodology for all sites.

The team delivers a high standard of patient food service and ensures each meal that leaves the kitchen is prepared with the utmost of care.
