Hearing Voices Approach Workshop 2 day CPD
2 Day ‘The Hearing Voices Approach’ workshop
This course is the perfect starting place if you are new to the Hearing Voices Approach. By the end of the 2 days you will have a solid understanding of the Hearing Voices Approach and how to apply it in practical settings.
Successful completion of this workshop earns:
In Australia almost 64,000 adults have a psychotic illness and receive treatment for this yet only 37.8% have good recovery outcomes. This means that we need new ways of working to increase recovery outcomes.
What is the Hearing Voices Approach?
The Approach provides different tools that are person centred, recovery focused and encourage voice hearers to accept, explore, understand and cope with their experience.
People attending Hearing Voices Support Groups that use this approach have reported 61% fewer hospital admission, 89% increase in social connection and 26% required less medication.
The Hearing Voices Approach is based on the research of Professor Marius Romme & Sandra Escher which found that 4% of the general population hears voices but less than 1/3 of people end up in the mental health system. Romme & Escher found that Voice Hearers who ‘cope’ have different skills, beliefs and supports compared to those who live with distress.
