Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of the Master of Advanced Nursing, you will develop skills through the following learning outcomes:

Be a reflective and critical thinker who examines and contributes to practice, policy and research. Improve health outcomes by incorporating the best available evidence into practice, clinical judgement and reasoning.

Be a visionary, innovative and responsive leader in health care. Influence evidence-based change and transformation to achieve optimal health care outcomes.

Justify and promote social justice principles to enable high quality, safe, and equitable health care for all, including Indigenous Australians. Ensure ethical practice by demonstrating respect and value for the social, cultural and spiritual differences of patients, their families, and the wider community.

Communicate effectively and professionally in diverse and dynamic situations. Engage and empower health care consumers and their families by adopting a respectful, empathic and person-centred approach to communication.

Develop professional qualities that are valuable and transferable to various clinical settings. Be prepared to learn, adapt and innovate as the healthcare industry continues to evolve.  

Entry requirements

• Applicants must have completed a UTS recognised bachelor's degree, or an equivalent or higher qualification, or submitted other evidence of general and professional qualifications that demonstrates potential to pursue graduate studies.
• Applicants must be currently employed in a healthcare setting and have one year of post-registration clinical experience.  
• Applicants must hold current registration as a nurse in Australia.  
• Students' current nursing registration will be confirmed via the National Register of Practitioners. Students should ensure that details of their registration are up-to-date on this register.  
• English language requirements: The English proficiency requirement for local applicants with international qualifications is: Academic IELTS: 6.5 overall with a writing score of 6.0; or TOEFL: paper-based: 550-583 overall with TWE of 4.5, internet-based: 79-93 overall with a writing score of 21; or AE5: Pass; or PTE: 58-64; or CAE: 176-184.
