About the Role
An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Allied Health professional to lead the development and implementation of the St Vincent's Hospital Melbourne (SVHM) Allied Health Workforce Roadmap. The Allied Health Workforce Advisor will provide expert leadership in workforce capability across the Allied Health workforce, including Allied Health Assistants. Working collaboratively with Allied Health leaders and key stakeholders, you will drive workforce initiatives that support contemporary models of care, workforce sustainability and high-quality patient outcomes.
Position Duties
As the Allied Health Workforce Advisor, you will:
- Lead an assessment of the current Allied Health workforce profile and service performance to inform the development of the SVHM Allied Health Workforce Roadmap.
- Develop and implement the Allied Health Workforce Roadmap, aligned with relevant workforce frameworks.
- Design and deliver workforce initiatives that respond to strategic priorities and emerging service needs.
- Work collaboratively with the Allied Health People Partner, management team, clinical leaders and discipline workforce leads to further strengthen a contemporary, capable and sustainable Allied Health workforce.
- Build strong relationships with Allied Health staff and teams to foster a positive workplace experience.
- Develop and maintain strategic partnerships that influence clinical practice and workforce innovation across Allied Health and multidisciplinary teams.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement, innovation and professional excellence.
- Collaborate with Allied Health Managers and Education Leads to strengthen staff credentialing and competency frameworks.
- Contribute to the ongoing development of Allied Health staff and students across SVHM.
The successful applicant will be employed under either the Allied Health Professionals (Victorian Public Health Sector) Single Interest Enterprise Agreement 2021–2026 or the Medical Scientists, Pharmacists and Psychologists Victorian Public Sector (Single Interest Employers) Enterprise Agreement 2021–2025. This position is classified as Grade 4.
Your Contribution
We are seeking a qualified Allied Health professional who:
- Is registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), or is eligible for membership with the relevant professional association for self-regulated Allied Health professions.
- Has completed, or is working towards, a relevant postgraduate qualification in health administration or a related discipline.
- Has extensive clinical and workforce leadership experience within the public healthcare system, with demonstrated expertise in strategic workforce planning, capability development and program evaluation.
You will also demonstrate:
- A detailed understanding of Allied Health professional and clinical governance within a large healthcare organisation.
- Strong knowledge of the Victorian Health Workforce Strategy and other relevant workforce capability, wellbeing and workload management frameworks.
- Demonstrated experience leading the development and implementation of strategic workforce plans and initiatives.
- High-level consultation, coaching and project management skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build effective relationships and foster collaboration.
- A sound understanding of evidence-based practice and contemporary models of Allied Health care.
- Experience leading discipline-specific or interprofessional workforce initiatives.
- Excellent organisational, planning and problem-solving skills.
The successful applicant will be required to undertake satisfactory National Police and NDIS Worker Screening Checks prior to appointment.
About Allied Health at St Vincent's
This fixed-term, 12-month position will support Allied Health staff across SVHM, including the Allied Health & Pharmacy Program, Health Independence Program, and St Vincent's Virtual and at Home program (excluding Mental Health). The Allied Health workforce comprises approximately 500 FTE (650 staff) working across multiple sites and programs. Based at our Fitzroy campus, this role will provide support across all SVHM sites and regular travel between locations will be required.
