About the Opportunity
St Vincent’s Private Hospital Toowoomba (SVPHT) is seeking a highly capable Business Development Manager with strong acute healthcare insight to join the Executive team.
This senior role is pivotal in driving sustainable growth across surgical, medical and emerging service lines, through sophisticated engagement with VMOs and the intelligent use of clinical and operational data.
You will work closely with hospital executives, medical specialists and external partners to identify, shape and deliver growth opportunities aligned with the hospital’s strategic and clinical priorities.
Key Accountabilities
- Lead hospital wide business development initiatives focused on surgical and medical specialty growth, service line optimisation and market expansion.
- In partnership with General Manager, recruit new specialists and take lead role in supporting their onboarding & growth of their practices.
- Act as a senior liaison with surgeons, physicians, anaesthetists and administrators fostering trusted, long-term professional relationships.
- Analyse health care industry data; theatre utilisation, case mix, referral patterns, patient flows and market data to inform growth strategies and investment decisions.
- Translate data insights into robust business cases, service proposals and executive level reports.
- Support medical workforce planning and recruitment strategies in collaboration with Executive, Clinical leadership and VMO practices.
- Identify and develop partnerships across the broader health sector, including private specialists, referrers and aligned services.
- Oversee external engagement activities, including targeted communications and digital presence, ensuring alignment with growth priorities.
About You:
You are a credible, commercially astute healthcare professional or professional with experience in the health care industry who understands the realities of operating within a private acute hospital environment.
Essential attributes:
- Demonstrated experience in acute healthcare or pharmaceutical business development and/or sales roles.
- Experience in clinical service planning, or health sector strategy is a plus.
- An outgoing and confident person who is well presented and able to develop strong relationships with senior medical specialists and key referrers.
- Strong analytical capability, with experience interpreting health care activity data to guide decision making.
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, including business case development and budget preparation.
- Strategic mindset with the ability to think ‘outside the box’ and convert opportunity into deliverable outcomes.
- The ability to motivate, manage and mentor diverse groups toward the accomplishment of established goals
Highly regarded:
- Experience within a private acute hospital or procedural healthcare environment.
- Clinical background and/or tertiary qualification/s.
- Exposure to new service commissioning, specialty expansion or capital planning
