About the Role
Permanent part time Senior Allied Health role working within a multidisciplinary team providing clinical assessment, treatment and support to clients who are experiencing significant mental health difficulties and their families.
You will deliver clinical and therapeutic interventions within a recovery-focused Strengths Model of Practice across Crisis Assessment and Treatment Team (CATT), Psychiatric Triage, Emergency Department Mental Health (EDMH) and MHaP (PACER) functions.
- Provide comprehensive face to face and telephone assessments including mental state assessment, risk assessment and plan appropriate crisis interventions in the least restrictive environment to ensure that people in an acute phase of a mental illness receive high quality treatment
- Use your understanding and working knowledge of the Mental Health Act 2014 and other relevant legislation to ensure least restrictive practice is the standard approach and consumers rights are protected
- Demonstrate highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, including sound oral and writing skills
- Provide leadership and direction in the development of behaviour that enhances communication, interaction and delivery of acute response services in keeping with the mission and strategic goals of the service
- Actively participate in the development and supervision of junior staff and students.
Classifications for this position will range from:
- OT/SW Grade 3 YB24 - YB27 or YC46 - YC49 ($101,597 - $116,074 per annum pro rata)
- Psychologist Grade 3 PL1 – PL4 ($108,279 - $123,905 per annum pro rata)
- RPN Grade 4 NP75 - NP77 ($112,465 - $121,113 per annum pro rata)
Your Contribution
- Certificate, Diploma or Degree (minimum) in Nursing which meets the registration requirements of the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency, Division 1 or 3. Master’s Degree or Doctorate in Clinical Psychology recognized by the Australian Psychological Society and registered as a Psychologist with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.
- Bachelor of Social Work (B.SW). Eligible for membership of the Australian Association of Social Work and registered as a Social Worker with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.
- Bachelor of Occupational Therapy. Eligible for membership of Australian Association of Occupational Therapy and registered as an Occupational Therapist with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.
- Registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency
- A current Victorian driver’s license.
- A valid Nationally Coordinated Criminal history check, or willing to obtain

St. Vincent’s Mental Health (SVMH) includes an adult area mental health service for the inner-city areas of Yarra and Boroondara.
The Community Acute Response Team (CART) of SVMH comprises Psychiatric Triage, Crisis Assessment and Treatment Team (CATT), Emergency Department Mental Health (EDMH), Mental Health and Police (PACER), Extended Triage and HOPE (Suicide Prevention) programs.
