The Role:
As Clinical Nurse Consultant – Aged Care, you will be the clinical lead for Lyell House, the Residential Aged Care Facility located at West Coast District Hospital. You will work collaboratively with nursing, medical, and allied health professionals to ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality, person-centred care aligned with the Strengthened Aged Care Quality Standards.

Permanent, full time, day worker, position, working up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
Salary: $114,851 to $121,886 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type.
Salary Packaging:
You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including up to $9,010 for living expenses + $2,650 for meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.

- Leading and promoting best practice aged care nursing and geriatric medicine.
- Acting as the Infection Control Lead for WCDH, ensuring compliance with infection prevention protocols and supporting staff education and monitoring.
- Conducting comprehensive assessments and care planning in collaboration with residents, families, guardians, and the broader healthcare team.
- Providing expert clinical advice and acting as a resource for staff across all aspects of aged care.
- Supporting quality improvement, clinical risk management, and compliance activities.
- Collaborating with the Activities Coordinator to plan and oversee resident activities.
- Assisting the NUM and DON with documentation, reporting, policy development, and admission processes.
- Supporting education and professional development in aged care nursing in conjunction with the Clinical Nurse Educator.
- Clinical Expertise: Advanced knowledge and assessment skills in aged care nursing and geriatric medicine, with a strong commitment to evidence-based practice.
- Leadership & Influence: Proven ability to lead clinical initiatives, mentor staff, and contribute to strategic planning and service development.
- Infection Control Knowledge: Demonstrated experience in infection prevention and control practices, with the ability to lead and monitor compliance in a residential aged care setting.
- Quality & Compliance Focus: Experience in quality improvement, policy development, and compliance with aged care legislation and standards.
- Communication & Collaboration: Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams and engage families, carers, and external providers.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of the Aged Care Act, Aged Care Quality Standards, and mandatory reporting requirements.
