The Team:
The Devonport Adult Community Mental Health Service (DACMHS NW) is a case management service that provides expert mental health care including assertive case management, triage, holistic physical and mental health assessment, clinical risk management and crisis intervention within the community setting.

As part of a multi-disciplinary team delivering high quality mental health services in accordance with the Mental Health Services Strategic Plan, Mental Health Service principles, National Mental Health Standards, Agency policy, legal requirements and relevant professional competencies, the Clinical Nurse Specialist:
The Department of Health Tasmania oversees various hospitals across the state, including the Royal Hobart Hospital, Launceston General Hospital, Northwest Regional Hospital, and Mersey Community Hospital, as well as district hospitals and ambulance services. Additionally, it provides community health, mental health, and primary healthcare services to the Tasmanian community through more than 300 sites.

Details of appointment:
Permanent term full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

Location: North West, Tasmania
Salary: $109,767 to $115,813 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type Salary Packaging:

Extensive, relevant psychiatric nursing experience and/or is credentialed as a Mental Health Nurse by the Australian and New Zealand College of Mental Health Nurses Inc. or equivalent.

The Role:
As part of a multi-disciplinary team delivering high quality mental health services in accordance with the Mental Health Services Strategic Plan, Mental Health Service principles, National Mental Health Standards, Agency policy, legal requirements and relevant professional competencies, the Clinical Nurse Specialist:
- Provides expert knowledge utilising an advanced clinical framework in the management of consumers with complex mental health needs within the designated area of practice.
- Develops, implements, coordinates and evaluates relevant activities to improve patient outcomes within the multi-disciplinary team.
- Participates as an active member of the Adult Community Mental Health team in delivering case management, carer education, consultation and collaboration with GP’s and significant others in provision of care to a designated number of consumers.
- Extensive experience in and comprehensive knowledge of clinical nursing practice in a variety of settings, with at least five years post – graduate clinical nursing experience directly applicable to Mental Health settings.
- Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation and awards, including the Mental Health Act, Right to Information Act, Work Health and Safety and relevant statutory requirements and departmental procedures and policies.
- Highly developed interpersonal skills, including written and oral communication, negotiation and conflict resolution skills, and the proven ability to work constructively as part of a multi-disciplinary team at both service and community levels.Note: - Please refer to the Statement of Duties for all the selection criteria of this position to address in your application.

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:
- Registered with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse and possess specialist tertiary graduate or post graduate mental health/psychiatric nursing qualification; or completed, prior to the transfer of nurse education to the tertiary sector, an accredited hospital based program that lead to registration as a psychiatric nurse by the relevant nurse regulatory authority within Australia, New Zealand, Canada or the United Kingdom.
- Current Driver’s License
Extensive, relevant psychiatric nursing experience and/or is credentialed as a Mental Health Nurse by the Australian and New Zealand College of Mental Health Nurses Inc. or equivalent.
