About the Role



Registrar Positions available:



1. Group and Brief Interventions Program – Clarendon and Hawthorn Community Mental Health.

The position involves provision of psychology specific interventions and therapy for community mental health consumers of SVHM.

2. Joint position: Perinatal Emotional Health Team and Consultation Liaison Psychiatry Service.

The position includes working with a small team (Psychiatrist and Senior Psychologist) in assessing and treating women requiring perinatal emotional health support and also working as part of the CL Psychiatry program servicing acute health inpatients and outpatients.



These roles are designed to support new psychology graduates with clinical psychology specialisation towards developing competencies and successfully transition to practice as an endorsed clinical psychologist on completion of the program.



The positions are embedded in clinical settings, working under the Team Manager and under the clinical supervision of a Grade 3 Clinical Psychologist. They will involve a specialist role, providing outpatient clinical psychology sessions at Adult Community Mental Health Clinics, which comprise a number of multidisciplinary teams.

  • Provide input into the multidisciplinary approach delivered by the community clinical team
  • Provide therapeutic intervention to support recovery, prevent relapse and hospitalisation.
  • You will be well supported as part of the multidisciplinary team and receive clinical psychology supervision from a P3 senior psychologist working within the same area of clinical practice.
  • There will also be an opportunity for group supervision and support for accessing relevant professional development opportunities.



Following the two-year graduate program, you will be supported to apply for ongoing long term employment opportunities within St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne.


Classifications for this position will range from Psychologist Grade 2 PK1 to PK4 ($92,627 - $104,811 per annum pro rata)



Your Contribution

  • General registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Eligibility to enter a Clinical Psychology registrar program with the Psychology Board of Australia
  • Master’s Degree or Doctorate in Clinical Psychology recognized by Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC)
  • Current National criminal history check, or willing to obtain

St Vincent’s Mental Health & Wellbeing Service is an area-based mental health service operating in the inner city areas of Yarra and Boroondara.
