The opportunity
You will join a collaborative multidisciplinary team providing high-quality care across acute inpatient, ambulatory and community settings.
The role offers:

• A varied and interesting General Medicine caseload
• Scope to establish or expand a subspecialty service
• Participation in rapid-access and general medical clinics
• Opportunities to contribute to Hospital in the Home
• Senior clinical leadership across the Medical Services Division
• Supervision and mentoring of physician trainees, junior doctors and medical students
• Involvement in clinical governance, quality improvement and service development
• Potential career progression into clinical leadership positions
• Support from experienced consultants and multidisciplinary clinical teams

The position participates in the physician on-call roster, providing senior support to the Emergency Department, Critical Care Unit and inpatient services.

The health service
This established subregional health service is the principal provider of acute, community and residential aged care services across a significant regional catchment.

Its major hospital campus provides:

• A 24-hour Emergency Department
• Critical care and coronary care services
• General medical and surgical inpatient units
• Cardiology, respiratory medicine and oncology services
• Renal dialysis
• Operating theatres and surgical services
• Specialist outpatient clinics
• Maternity, neonatal and paediatric care
• Community rehabilitation and Hospital in the Home services

The Medical Services Division is supported by experienced consultants, physician trainees, junior medical officers, nursing staff and a broad multidisciplinary allied health team.

Essential requirements
Applicants must hold:

• Medical qualifications eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia
• Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians, or an equivalent specialist qualification
• Demonstrated experience managing complex acute and chronic medical conditions
• Strong communication, teamwork and clinical leadership skills
• A commitment to patient-centred care, teaching and continuous improvement
