About the Role:
Based in Adelaide's northern metropolitan area, you will provide specialist psychiatric consultation and liaison services to medical and surgical teams. Working collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams, you will assess, diagnose, and treat patients with complex mental health presentations in the general hospital setting.
As a Consultant Psychiatrist in Consultation Liaison, you will:
- Provide specialist psychiatric care and expert consultation across hospital and community settings
- Provide comprehensive psychiatric assessments and treatment recommendations
- Lead care planning and collaborate with medical, nursing, and allied health professionals
- Drive continuous quality improvement and uphold the highest standards of patient safety
- Mentor trainee medical officers and contribute to education programs
- Collaborate with medical teams to optimise patient outcomes
- Supervise and mentor junior medical staff and trainees
To be eligible for this position, you must hold a MBBS or equivalent, and appropriate specialist qualifications and registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner with specialist registration; or another qualification as defined in the SA Medical Officers Award.
The Total Indicative Remuneration figure is calculated taking into account base salary, leave loading and superannuation as well as managerial allowances, professional development or any other allowances where appropriate.

Our Local Health Network Sites and Services:
Lyell McEwin Hospital – The major hospital in the north and north-east for emergency care, complex and multi-day surgery, medicine, obstetrics, paediatrics and outpatient services.
Modbury Hospital – A general hospital with emergency care, elective surgery, medicine, outpatient and sub-acute services, rehabilitation, geriatric and palliative care.
Mental Health - The Division of Mental Health provides a comprehensive range of public mental health services for youth, adults and older people in northern Adelaide. Services are provided through community health centres and hospitals, and to consumers in their own homes.
Forensic Mental Health - A statewide service that operates as part of the Division of Mental Health for forensic patients and prisoners.
Community Sites - Elizabeth GP Plus, Modbury GP Plus and Gilles Plains GP Plus Super Clinics providing community based care.
