Consultant/Specialist Emergency Medicine

The Position:
We are looking for dedicated Emergency Medicine Consultants/Specialists to join a hospital in a beautiful regional location.

You will:
  • Provide clinical services of the highest possible standard in the Emergency department.
  • Required to work with limited or no direction or supervision and to exercise a high degree of professional judgement and clinical competence in a multi-disciplinary setting.
  • Responsible for the overall smooth day to day management of the clinical floor.
  • Responding to hospital MET/Code Blue/Code Black calls as required by allocation on shift.
  • Provide supervision, training, and direction to more junior staff as required.
  • Participate in teaching and quality assurance activities, and undertake health promotion and community education activities
Total Indicative Remuneration: $415,123 - $539,677 p.a (pro rata)

The Hospital:
The hospital has 32 general beds (+ 4 Mental Health beds) and three operating theatres. It is a country hospital with the ED run by GPs with GPAs and GPOs. 2 general surgeons, 1 FTE O&G Specialist position (shared by three specialists from Adelaide) and several surgical VMOs (ortho, plastics, Maxillo-facial etc.)

A gorgeous River Town, in a beautiful regional location.
The local cafes and restaurants are known for making great use of both the local fresh produce and its multiculturalism

There are many ways to soak up the natural environment, in creeks and backwaters (as well as the river itself) provides some spectacular scenery. Getting out on the water is the perfect way to slow down, unwind and get close to nature.

A lovely National Park to enjoy, within a short drive, with plenty of campsites and walks to enjoy.

We are looking for someone with:
  • Demonstrated clinical excellence in rural emergency medicine.
  • Demonstrated high level of skills in communicating, negotiating and mediating.
  • Demonstrated leadership in the improvement of clinical outcomes and implementing clinical change
  • Demonstrated analytical leadership, implementation and review of best practice clinical process, systems and evidence-based practice.
  • Ability to engage and influence others to improve Aboriginal Health services provided to the local community.
Essential Criteria
All applicants must have:
  • Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent
  • Appropriate Specialist Qualifications and registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner with Specialist registration
  • Fellowship of Australasian College Emergency Medicine
  • A minimum of 5 years at a senior level of professional practice
  • Experience in managing budgets.
