The opportunity
An exceptional opportunity exists for a Consultant/Specialist or Senior Consultant/Specialist General Surgeon to work in one of Australias most unique and clinically rewarding regions.
This role is ideal for surgeons seeking true broad-spectrum general surgery in a remote setting, with a strong interest in Indigenous health and complex emergency care rarely encountered in metropolitan practice.

Why?
  • Broad and rewarding clinical scope rarely available in metropolitan roles
  • The chance to make a meaningful difference in Aboriginal health outcomes
  • Short commute, strong team culture, and excellent work-life balance
  • Gateway to iconic landscapes, outdoor adventure, and a close-knit community
  • Easy access to hiking, cycling, four-wheel driving, and world-class desert scenery
This role is well suited to surgeons seeking professional variety, leadership opportunity, and a lifestyle change without compromising clinical standards.
Youll work in a well-supported regional hospital where your skills genuinely matter, your scope of practice is broad, and your contribution has visible impact every day.

Case mix includes:
  • Emergency and elective general surgery
  • Complex soft tissue infections
  • High-acuity trauma including stab injuries, motor vehicle accidents, and vascular trauma
  • Acute pancreatitis and complex abdominal pathology
  • Oncology surgery
  • Neuro and vascular surgical emergencies
This is one of the last true broad-scope general surgical roles in Australia.

The hospital & department
The hospital is a Level 2 Trauma Centre. The General Surgery Department is fully accredited by the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS) for surgical training and supports:
  • accredited surgical trainees
  • pre-SET trainees
  • interns and junior medical officers
Youll be part of a highly skilled, collegial team committed to education, service development, and quality care in a challenging but well-supported environment.
