  • If you are seeking a senior psychiatric role that combines clinical leadership, service innovation and lifestyle balance, we encourage your application.
We are seeking a Consultant Psychiatrist to join the Adult Mental Health and Wellbeing Service, initially based in a newly built Adult Inpatient Unit, with future scope to work across teams within the broader network.
This is a rare opportunity to practise in one of Victorias most progressive public mental health services.

Lifestyle & Location
This role offers more than professional opportunity. It offers lifestyle.
It combines coastal living with direct access to Melbournes cultural, educational and sporting precincts. Many of our consultants choose to live locally, enjoying:
  • Beachside and semi-rural housing options
  • Excellent public and private schools
  • Established caf, winery and dining culture
  • National parks, walking trails and water sports
  • Easy access to Melbourne CBD
You can build a senior career in public mental health while enjoying space, nature and community.

The Role
As Consultant Psychiatrist, you will provide senior clinical care and leadership within a multidisciplinary, recovery-focused environment committed to trauma-informed and rights-based practice.
The service is nationally recognised for leadership in Least Restrictive Care and has eliminated seclusion practices across inpatient settings. From 2026, services will transition into a new state-of-the-art university hospital facility.
You will:
  • Provide expert psychiatric assessment and treatment within Adult Inpatient Services
  • Lead and supervise junior and senior medical staff
  • Contribute to service development, policy and clinical governance
  • Support quality improvement and patient safety initiatives
  • Promote collaborative, person-centred and family-inclusive care
What You Bring
  • Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP)
  • Current Medical Practitioner Registration in Australia
  • Demonstrated specialist clinical experience
  • Experience in clinical leadership and multidisciplinary collaboration
  • Strong commitment to evidence-based, contemporary psychiatric practice
  • Understanding of quality, safety and governance frameworks
Why Join?
  • Work within an innovative, recovery-oriented service
  • Join a supportive and highly collegial medical workforce
  • Practise in a system leading reform in restrictive practice reduction
  • Access expanded opportunities across a newly merged network
  • Contribute to meaningful, community-embedded care
  • Salary package up to $400k
