Client Description

This NSW Hospital is one of two large public hospitals on the Central Coast. It is a busy regional hospital of approximately 300 beds and is a teaching hospital of the University of Newcastle. Inpatient services include general medical, general surgical, cardiology, drug and alcohol, mental health and a level 3 Intensive Care Unit. The hospital's emergency department is one of the busiest in the state and sees approximately 63,000 presentations per year. Twenty five percent of the presentations are paediatric. It is the busiest paediatric ED in New South Wales not to have a supporting inpatient Unit, however it is very well supported by a Paediatric Assessment Unit. The department sees a broad range of critically ill patients across all age groups and Registrars receive extensive clinical and procedural exposure.
