About the Role

Based at our Clarendon Clinic in East Melbourne, which has the benefit of being centrally located and close to multiple public transport and cycle routes, this is a great opportunity to increase your skills in community mental health. You will provide a high standard of clinical assessment, treatment and secondary consultation to clients and staff of the St. Vincent’s integrated adult MHS, demonstrating excellence in discipline specific and recovery-focused skills.



You will join a dynamic community mental health team working alongside allied health and nursing case managers operating under a recovery-oriented model of care, utilising the Strengths Model.


  • Work alongside Case managers to provide support to consumers within the Strengths Model of recovery orientated practice
  • Build a therapeutic alliance with the consumer and actively engage them in the planning and delivery of their care
  • Undertake assessments, devise treatment plans and deliver targeted psychological interventions to consumers with complex mental health related needs in line with SVMH policies and strategic direction



Classifications for this position will range from

  • Psychologist Grade 2 PK1 - PK4 ($94,478- $106,906 per annum pro rata)





Your Contribution

  • Masters or Doctorate degree in Psychology and current General Registration as a Psychologist with AHPRA
  • Has Clinical Psychology endorsement, or working towards clinical endorsement as a Registrar
  • Experience working within the public community mental health field
  • Experience in the provision of assessment, discipline specific intervention to consumers with a serious mental illness and complex needs within a recovery framework
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills
  • Current National criminal history check, or willing to obtain

St. Vincent’s Mental Health (SVMH) includes an adult area mental health service for the inner city areas of Yarra and Boroondara.



The Clarendon Clinic Continuing Care Teams provide ongoing specialist treatment and support to meet the identified needs of clients who suffer with a serious mental illness and associated high level of disability in the City of Yarra. The multidisciplinary team provides a range of clinical and therapeutic interventions using the recovery-focused Strengths Model of Recovery-Oriented Practice.
