Tropical Coastal Queensland | Total Remuneration up to $528,000
We are seeking a General Surgeon or Specialist Surgeon to join a collaborative, well-supported team in one of Queenslands most desirable coastal regions.
This is an opportunity to combine a rewarding surgical career with a relaxed tropical lifestyle. Based in a vibrant regional city just one hour by air from Brisbane, the location offers immediate access to the Whitsunday Islands, and the iconic Great Barrier Reef.

The Role
You will join a Level 2, 354-bed hospital delivering comprehensive public sector surgical services to a regional population of approximately 180,000, plus a significant volume of domestic and international visitors.
This position offers:
  • Total remuneration up to $528,000
  • 5 weeks annual leave per annum
  • 17.5% annual leave loading (4 weeks)
  • 3.6 weeks professional development leave per annum
  • Overtime, on-call and recall allowances (paid per occurrence)
You will contribute to both emergency and elective services and play an active role in education and service development within the department.

Key Responsibilities
You will be expected to demonstrate:
  • High-level capability in delivering quality General Surgery services (emergency and elective)
  • Up-to-date clinical knowledge and experience in General Surgery
  • The ability to supervise and teach medical, nursing and allied health staff
  • Strong leadership within a multidisciplinary team environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Capacity to meet roster and on-call requirements
This is a hands-on role in a service that sees a wide variety of pathology, offering both clinical depth and ongoing professional growth.
There are strong academic links with universities, including formal appointments for PHOs and Registrars as Associate Lecturers, providing opportunities to contribute to teaching and training.

Essential Requirements
  • Registration with the Medical Board of Australia with Specialist recognition
  • Fellowship of, or eligibility for Fellowship with, the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons
