ABOUT THE POSITION:
Join the St Vincent’s Private Hospital Brisbane (SVPHB) and Northside (SVPHN) Graduate Nurse Programs in February 2025. Our Graduate Registered Nurse Program, for February 2025 commencement, is offered as an opportunity to work at either one, or both of our Brisbane Hospitals, at Kangaroo Point and/or Chermside. This is a 52-week, fixed term (0.84FTE) position where you will work in a friendly, positive environment with our experienced and specialised healthcare team to develop your skills, becoming one of our outstanding clinicians!


WHAT MAKES OUR GRADUATE PROGRAM STAND OUT:
As part of our genuine commitment to your learning and developing you into an excellent clinician, we ensure that we have the support of dedicated Clinical Nurses (Education), Preceptors as well as a Graduate Program Coordinator.

Our Clinical Education Team will be invested in offering you ongoing support and guidance throughout the program to develop your knowledge and skill giving you the best possible platform to launch your career from! During the program you will attend three clinical workshop days. It is important to St Vincent’s Health that we ensure you are provided allocated education days to focus on your learning and consolidate your existing clinical skills and knowledge. We are here to facilitate your transition from novice practitioner to a confident and competent professional nurse.

We are dedicated to setting you up for success in our 12-month Graduate Nurse Program, supporting you following successful completion of the graduate program to transition into one of the many opportunities available in the St Vincent’s Network. Currently SVPHN has transition programs to Critical Care (ICU), Cardiac Catheter Lab (CCL) and Perioperative Services, which demonstrates our commitment to continually upskilling our employees.


OUR SPECIALTIES:
We have a variety of sub-acute wards and specialties where you can develop your skill set, with the opportunities for two 6-month rotations. Brisbane site offers Rehabilitation, Medical, Pain Services, Palliative Care and Geriatric Medical Services. Northside site includes, Urology, Orthopaedics, Oncology, Palliative Care, General medical and surgical, Gastrointestinal, colorectal and Bariatric surgical, Medical Cardiology, Cardiothoracic and Vascular surgical and emergency. There is also a separate Perioperative Graduate Nurse Program at Northside which include Cardiac Cath Lab (CCL), Endoscopy, Theatres, Anaesthetics and Recovery.

In 2025 we will also be offering a program which allows our graduates to follow the patient journey through 2 of our specialities – Oncology & Palliative care Nursing stream and Orthopaedics & Rehabilitation Nursing stream. In this program the graduate nurse will have the opportunity to work across our 2 sites, Brisbane (Kangaroo Point) and Northside (Chermside).

ABOUT YOU:
You will have:

  • Current Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse, prior to the program commencement.
  • The ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Well-developed skills in communication, critical thinking, time management and prioritisation of care.
  • Developed skills to deliver compassionate, patient-centred care.
  • Recent clinical placement experience in an acute hospital setting.
  • The ability to work various shifts 7 days a week, including night shift after 3 months.

REMUNERATION:
The position of Graduate Registered Nurse, in addition to our competitive salary packaging options, is a Level 1, Year 1, with a base remuneration of: $40.00 hourly + superannuation + shift penalties + allowances.
