About the Role
The Health Assistant (Nursing), under the direction of the Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) or equivalent, will work as an assistant and support person to the Registered Nurses and Enrolled Nurses to provide delegated aspects of patient care aiding in the smooth running of the allocated ward environments.
> Work within the role and parameters determined within this position description and the
specific unit duty list
> Contribute to positive patient outcomes by ensuring all elements of delegated work is completed
accurately and in accordance with St Vincent’s policies and procedures
> Participate in delegated aspects of patient care including but not limited to:
- Assistance with personal hygiene
- Assistance with nutritional needs
- Assistance with mobility, transfers and positioning within the ward
- Assistance with elimination needs
Classifications for these roles will be IN38 - IN39 ($57,038.80 - $59,670.00) per annum, pro rata.

- Certificate III Health Assistant (nursing)
- Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a wider team
- Good interpersonal skills, verbal and written communication skills including an ability to
communicate effectively with other staff, patients and families
- Reliability in relation to attendance and completion of assigned tasks
- Commitment to a professional work ethic
- Commitment to ongoing professional development
- Satisfactory level of computer literacy
- Permanent residency status within Australia

About 8 West General Medicine
8 West is a 24 bed general medical ward, looking after patients with a wide variety of medical conditions including dementia/delirium. Nurses and health assistants work closely together to ensure the best possible care is delivered to our patients.
